Press Release
SECUWARE WELCOMED BY SANDISK TO ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE

Leading data protection vendor to verify compatibility and interoperability of Security Framework with SanDisk secure portable devices

Sunnyvale, CA, September 24, 2007 – Secuware, a leading provider of advanced data protection solutions for Windows enterprise networks, today announced that is has joined the SanDisk® Enterprise Solutions Technology Alliance (SESTA). SESTA gives members the opportunity to test the compatibility of their products with secure portable solutions from SanDisk, a leader in personal storage devices.

“SanDisk is pleased to welcome Secuware as a member of SESTA,” said Ella Taran Katz, senior manager for business development in the Enterprise Division at SanDisk. “Enterprise IT managers will have a new level of comfort in knowing that Secuware’s centrally-managed, policy-driven encryption, pre-boot authentication, device management and application controls are fully compatible with SanDisk’s enterprise products.”

Secuware is evaluating its Security Framework (SSF) under the SESTA partner testing guidelines. SSF’s data-centric approach to media and file encryption enforces the data privacy and access controls set by Active Directory policy direction. Additional controls allow system access only to authorized USB and FireWire devices. Application management limits user access to a predetermined list of approved programs and delivers an additional layer of defense against viruses, Trojan Horses and other malware by preventing the accidental or deliberate activation of unapproved executables. In this way, SSF also contributes significantly to system stability, as users’ systems always have known, tested application configurations.

This combination of controls create Closed Circuits for Information – zones of security that protect corporate data in much the same way that a CCTV system displays images only in a restricted area. The ensuing tight integration with Windows results in a “secure operating system” that protects data from the boot process onwards.

“One of today’s biggest IT security threats is the proliferation of inexpensive, uncontrolled and highly portable storage devices,” said Feliciano Rivera, executive vice president and general manager for Secuware. “SSF, combined with SanDisk’s enterprise-class device, will offer organizations a powerful solution to protect corporate data.”

The Cruzer® Enterprise high-speed USB flash drive with mandatory password protection and 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption is SanDisk’s signature device. Data stored on Cruzer Enterprise has virtually ironclad protection against access by unauthorized users if the drive is lost or stolen.
